2019 Rules Changes – CONGU Advice

With the introduction of the new Rules of Golf for 2019, a new format for play has been introduced – the Maximum Score format.  In addition, the potential for the introduction of a Local Rule to allow the Alternative to Stroke and Distance has been provided.  CONGU have generated documents to provide advice to Committees on these two aspects.  They can be found here: http://www.congu.co.uk/congu-handicap/

Also, with the forthcoming introduction of the new World Handicap System, the submitting of correct scores for handicap purposes is more important in order to provide for an accurate handicap, especially when coming up to the transition.  This is specifically aimed at the submission of No Returns.  In Strokeplay competitions principally (but it also applies to Stableford/Bogey scores) it is not unheard of for players to cease recording subsequent scores on their card once they have ‘picked up’ on a particular hole.  Advice to Committees on the submission of No Returns can be found here:  http://www.congu.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/CONGU-Advice-Recording-No-Returns.pdf
